  5. Minutemen were an American punk rock band formed in San Pedro, California, in 1980.Composed of guitarist/vocalist D. Boon, bassist/vocalist Mike Watt, and drummer George Hurley, Minutemen recorded four albums and eight EPs before Boon's death in an automobile accident in 1985; the band broke up shortly thereafter.

  6. Following Boon's death, Watt sold New Alliance to SST Records. In 1986, a Minutemen fan named Ed Crawford encouraged Watt and Hurley to form a new band with him. The band, fIREHOSE, existed until 1994. Since then, Watt and Hurely have played with various bands and sessions and Watt has also released several solo albums.
