Minutemen were an American punk rock band formed in San Pedro, California, in 1980.Composed of guitarist/vocalist D. Boon, bassist/vocalist Mike Watt, and drummer George Hurley, Minutemen recorded four albums and eight EPs before Boon's death in an automobile accident in 1985; the band broke up shortly thereafter.

Following Boon's death, Watt sold New Alliance to SST Records. In 1986, a Minutemen fan named Ed Crawford encouraged Watt and Hurley to form a new band with him. The band, fIREHOSE, existed until 1994. Since then, Watt and Hurely have played with various bands and sessions and Watt has also released several solo albums.

3-Way Tie (For Last) (1985) ★★★ (3.057) A pretty disappointing final album that has no real unity and whose songs don't seem very inspired. There's not too much that's downright bad here, but most of it leaves me indifferent. The cover of The Urinals may be the best track, which says something. ★★★ (3.057)
