The museum building contains archeological finds from the mound cemeteries of Tune, Gokstad, Oseberg and Borre. The Norse sagas tell of many splendid Viking ships that sailed to far-off lands.
The museum is most famous for the completely whole Oseberg ship, excavated from the largest known ship burial in the world. Other main attractions at the Viking Ship Museum are the Gokstad ship and Tune ship .
