A wheelchair accessible restroom is located on the first floor. Gallery stools are available at gallery entrances to use on a first-come, first-served basis. Please inquire at the front desk if you can’t find them. The Lyman Allyn welcomes service dogs.
Admission to the Lyman Allyn is free for children under 12. Discover the Museum with fun and educational activities designed for children ages 5 and up all year round. Explore the galleries and our outdoor sculpture trail surrounded by 12 acres of gardens and lawn. Multilingual family guides are available in the Museum’s lobby. Baby strollers are permitted.

From I-95 South, take exit 83 (Frontage Road). Take Briggs Street / Coast Guard Academy exit (this is a right hand exit). At the traffic light, turn left onto Briggs Street. At the second traffic light, turn left onto Williams Street. Drive two tenths of a mile and the Museum driveway is on the right.

The Lyman Allyn Art Museum was founded with a bequest from Harriet Upson Allyn, who died on November 30, 1926. She made the bequest in memory of her father Lyman Allyn, a wealthy shipping merchant, to be used to create a new park and museum, a place for local citizens to learn about art and culture. Land for the project was purchased in 1927.
