Decently_disastrous. •. Just depends on whether they record attendance or not. They don’t usually for lectures but sometimes do for seminars/tutorials/labs even if attendance is not mandatory just for their own records or to keep track of students who may need intervention for poor engagement.

Yea but I guess it depends on your course and uni.For my current course it requires an 80% attendance for the lectures and the labs are compulsory. If you’re absent you need to apply for a special consideration and it needs to be approved (idk if other uni’s have that too).
- Nothing is compulsory. One of the key differences between high school and university is that attending university is not compulsory, meaning you are enrolled to study at your own volition.
- It pays to be proactive. Just as your lecturers will not be checking in to see that you have attended every class, they will also not be chasing you up when it comes to doing your work each week.
- Expect the unfamiliar. Another thing to note when starting university is that many of the assignments you will receive in your first year will likely be unfamiliar to you and so will the subjects you learn.
When entering your preferences in STAR, you will be able to identify attendance requirements because the activity will show building and room information. Further details will also be available on your unit sites in CloudDeakin, which you will be able to access a week prior to the start of trimester.
I think it depends on your course. I have a mandatory 20 days total (spread over 4 years) to be accredited in my field. This is less enforced by Deakin and more enforced by the board. If you search attendance requirements Deakin (or something similar) you can put your course in and it'll show you.
