Can't speak from first hand experience, just secondhand testimonies about the residence, but I have heard they are quite good, regarding space and activities (parties and that sort). If you are unsure about age or having any questions about Deakin I find the best thing to do is call or even email them, they have a great support staff.

The main difference I compare to my friends is that they don’t feel comfortable hanging around uni because they haven’t made friends. Deakin involves you in a lot of co-operative work and it makes you want to hang around the campus and socialise whilst still completing work. My friends go to uni, in and out, only for their subjects.
I study at Deakin but work at a different uni and we take attendance for these reasons as well. The department of home affairs periodically requests attendance info throughout the year so they can monitor international students’ compliance with their visa conditions.
