- Emirates Spinnaker Tower. Modelled on a sail to reflect the city’s seafaring history, this landmark observation tower is two and a half times the size of Nelson’s Column in Trafalgar Square – making it the tallest climbable structure outside the UK capital.
- Canoe Lake. With its swan-shaped pedalos, Art Deco angel statue and lovingly tended flowerbeds, Canoe Lake could be a scene straight off a Victorian postcard.
- Gunwharf Quays. A chic, designer outlet on the waterfront that serves as a one-hit wonder for all your (discounted) shopping needs. It’s a hotspot for the locals too, so bank on it being lively from dawn until late.
- D-Day Story. The only museum dedicated to the Allied Invasion in 1944, The D-Day Museum tells the personal stories behind this monumentally historic event, from both a civilian and military viewpoint.
It’s good. Loads of good bars and shops in Southsea. Nice walks along the sea front and fishing on the beach. Walks along Hilsea lines and nice bike rides along Hayling island. Southsea IS expensive though so it’s not ideal for constant drinking. But there are cheaper pubs to be found.
- Strawbery Banke Museum. Ah, the Strawbery Banke Museum, a place where time seems to stand still. This living history museum is one of the coolest things to do in Portsmouth, offering a captivating journey through four centuries of New England life.
- The Music Hall. The Music Hall, a sanctuary for the arts and one of the unique places in Portsmouth that you simply can’t miss. This historic venue, dating back to 1878, is a testament to the city’s rich cultural tapestry.
- Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Museum. If you’re a history enthusiast or just curious about the maritime heritage of the area, the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Museum is a must-visit.
- Portsmouth Brewery. The Portsmouth Brewery is a haven for anyone who appreciates a well-crafted pint. If you’re thinking about what to do in Portsmouth to quench your thirst and satisfy your palate, this is the spot.
