     Check out the predefined variables:

     \a likely stands for "artifacts"

     Build.ArtifactStagingDirectory - The local path on the agent where any artifacts are copied to before being pushed to their destination. For example: c:\agent_work\1\a

     \b likely stands for "binaries"

     Build.BinariesDirectory - The local path on the agent you can use as an output folder for compiled binaries. For example: c:\agent_work\1\b.

     \s likely stands for "sources"

     Build.Repository.LocalPath - The local path on the agent where your source code files are downloaded. For example: c:\agent_work\1\s. This variable is synonymous with Build.SourcesDirectory.

     On Hosted build agents "1" seems to be static, on a self hosted agent I have noticed this number is unique per pipeline.

     Adding to the answers here a solution (a bit different to the others proposed):

     Using the :last-of-type selector to get the last element of a certain specific tag name.

     Array method at()

     is also helpful in combination with querySelectorAll, but it requires to destruct the result, to get a "real" array, because querySelectorAll doesn't have the at method at its disposal (so sad...)

     console.log( ":last-of-type:", document.querySelector('mark:last-of-type') // <---- )-console.log( ":last-child:", document.querySelector('mark:last-child'))console.log( "querySelectorAll + at:", [...document.querySelectorAll('mark')].at(-1))

     Most of the times it is easier (and cheaper) to make the first iteration the special case instead of the last one:

     first = Truefor data in data_list: if first: first = False else: between_items() item()

     This will work for any iterable, even for those that have no len():

     file = open('/path/to/file')for line in file: process_line(line)- # No way of telling if this is the last line!

     Apart from that, I don't think there is a generally superior solution as it depends on what you are trying to do. For example, if you are building a string from a list, it's naturally better to use str.join() than using a for loop “with special case”.

     Using the same principle but more compact:

     for i, line in enumerate(data_list): if i > 0: between_items() item()

     Looks familiar, doesn't it? :)

     For @ofko, and others who really need to find out if the current value of an iterable without len() is the last one, you will need to look ahead:

     def lookahead(iterable): """Pass through all values from the given iterable, augmented by the information if there are more values to come after the current one (True), or if it is the last value (False). """ # Get an iterator and pull the first value. it = iter(iterable) last = next(it) # Run the iterator to exhaustion (starting from the second value). for val in it: # Report the *previous* value (more to come). yield last, True last = val # Report the last value. yield last, False

     Then you can use it like this:

     That is not true. The last position in k='asdf' is k[3] with is 'f'.

     You are also correct that when trying to examine a slice that doesn't contain anything (k[4:4] or k[300:2345] or k[6:5]) python will give you an empty result.

     '' is an empty string; it is not returning a quotation mark.
