Casimir of Bytom (Polish: Kazimierz; 1253/57 – 10 March 1312) was a Duke of Opole during 1282–1284 (with his brother as co-ruler) and Duke of Bytom from 1284 until his death. He was the second son of Władysław , Duke of Opole – Racibórz , by his wife Euphemia , daughter of Władysław Odonic , Duke of Greater Poland .
The duchy's capital was Bytom (Beuthen), formerly part of Lesser Poland until in 1177 the Polish High Duke Casimir II the Just had attached it to the Silesian Duchy of Racibórz. History [ edit ] When Władysław's second son Casimir became Duke of Bytom, he at first ruled jointly with his brother Duke Bolko I of Opole and from 1284 on alone.

The city received its urban charter based on the German law in 1254 when the prince of Opole and Racibórz, Ladislaus I, granted the city rights to Bytom.
