Circular Chess retains all of the rules and characteristics of conventional chess. The only difference is the combat arena. The 8x8 square board is replaced with a circular ring board. This one small departure changes everything and changes it utterly.
The moves of the pieces in circular chess are identical to those in orthodox chess. The queen, rooks, bishops, knights, and king all follow the same movement rules as in the traditional game. However, there is one significant difference: a queen or rook, if unobstructed, can move any distance round a ring.
