Secretary Ellen (Paula Raymond) and dancer Christine (Esther Williams) are roommates and friends. Ellen is in love with her boss, Douglas (John Lund), who has her pretend to be his fiancée whenever his dates get too attached, but he doesn't return the feeling. Christine tries to help by following Douglas on a business trip and attempting to woo him so he'll summon Ellen.
