He was a distant relative of the Warner Brothers, and as head of his own studio, served as the producer of the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies theatrical cartoons from 1930 to 1944 .
Leon Schlesinger was a producer of Warner Bros. Looney Tunes animated shorts, the legendary series of comedy, fantasy and western cartoons. He also produced The Jazz Singer (1927), the first talkie for Warner Bros. He hired and mentored many famous animators and voice actors, such as Tex Avery, Chuck Jones, Mel Blanc and Carl Stalling.
