Martin Ludwig Bormann (17 June 1900 – 2 May 1945) was a German Nazi Party official and head of the Nazi Party Chancellery, private secretary to Adolf Hitler and a war criminal. After the war, he was convicted and sentenced to death-in-absentia for crimes against humanity.
Martin Bormann was a radical nationalist and Freikorps member who resisted the French in the Ruhr in 1923-24. 2. Martin Bormann whereabouts proved as elusive as the anonymity in which he first rose to power. Having been sentenced to death in absentia at the International Military Tribunal at Nuremburg on October 1, 1946, he was formally pronounced dead by a West German court in April 1973, but his precise fate remains unknown.
