The village of Leutstetten is located about twenty kilometres south-west of Munich and four kilometres north of Starnberg. In 1875 Prince Ludwig of Bavaria (husband of Queen Mary IV and III ) purchased Schloss Leutstetten from Freiherr von Welden.

Schloss Leutstetten liegt im Würmtal zwischen Gauting und Starnberg auf einem Hügel oberhalb des Leutstettener Mooses. 1875 kaufte der damalige Prinz Ludwig das Schloss. Dazu gehört ein kleiner, umzäunter Park. Markant sind zwei quergestellte Ecktürme.
