Skaneateles (/ ˌ s k æ n i ˈ æ t l ə s / SKAN-ee-AT-ləs, locally / ˌ s k ɪ n-/ SKIN-) is a town in Onondaga County, New York, United States. As of the 2020 Census, the population was 7,112. The name is from the Iroquois term for the adjacent Skaneateles Lake, which means "long lake."

- Take A Boat Tour Of The Lake. I’ve done a few of the boat tours along Skaneateles Lake, and I’ve loved them all. With Mid-Lakes Navigation, you’ll be able to select options from traditional informational tours, lunch and dinner cruises and even a Mailboat tour aboard The Barbara.
- Dine At The Famed Sherwood Inn. The Sherwood Inn is a staple in Skaneateles having been around since 1807. Sitting directly across the street from the lake, and located right in downtown, the location is awesome, and they have a really nice bar and restaurant in addition to the inn.

The name Skaneateles means long lake in one of the local Iroquoian languages. The lake is sometimes referred to as "The Roof Garden of the Lakes" because its altitude (863.27 ft or 263.12 m) is higher than the other Finger Lakes. [2] . It is one of the cleanest lakes in the United States.
