  3. The Honeymooners was the greatest program of television's golden age, better than "I Love Lucy", "Texaco Star Theater", and "Your Show of Shows" . I've seen "I Love Lucy" reruns many times and clips of the other two great programs, and "Jackie Gleason's "Honeymooners" a spin off from his classic variety series is still my favorite.

Yet another needless remake, THE HONEYMOONERS repeats the original's backwards gender roles, without remembering its intelligent ironies. Where the first Ralph and Alice shared a believable commitment, it's unclear why this Alice stays with this selfish Ralph.

  7. Superfluous though it may be, The Honeymooners is not so bad. Just funny enough to mollify purists and amuse the uninitiated. Epps has a nicely beaten charm to him -- among the leads, he alone looks like he knows what a trip to the moon costs. The movie suffers from a devastating flaw for a comedy: It isn't very funny.
