Former Inspector Barrabal (Edmund Lowe), now a drunk, is given a second chance when a jewel fence known only as "The Squeaker" begins terrorizing police and thieves alike. Posing as an ex-con, Barrabal gets a job at a shipping company. He works under Frank Sutton (Sebastian Shaw), who is known for sympathizing with men down on their luck.
