Aug 20, 2012 · LOS ANGELES — Tony Scott, director of such Hollywood hits as "Top Gun," "Days of Thunder" and "Beverly Hills Cop II," died Sunday after jumping from a Los Angeles County bridge, authorities said. The 68-year-old Scott's death was being investigated as a suicide, Los Angeles County Coroner's Lt. Joe Bale said.

Tony Scott was a British-born film director and producer, known for his action movies such as Top Gun, True Romance and Crimson Tide. He died by suicide in 2012, possibly due to cancer, according to his brother Ridley Scott.
