The town of Wyalusing is situated near the mouth of the Wyalusing Creek on the Susquehanna River. The original town, called "M'chwihilusing," dates back several centuries. Prior to 1750, the settlement was known as Gahontoto and was inhabited by a native tribe called Tehotachsee.
