  2. In popular culture. See also. References. External links. David Livingstone FRGS FRS ( / ˈlɪvɪŋstən /; 19 March 1813 – 1 May 1873) was a Scottish physician, Congregationalist, pioneer Christian missionary [2] with the London Missionary Society, and an explorer in Africa.

    • He worked in a cotton mill factory. Livingstone was born in 1813 in Blantyre within a tenement building for the workers of a cotton factory on the banks of the River Clyde.
