Jan 27, 2008 · The Delacorte contest is a good way to get your foot in the door (for a pat on the back). On another thread I asked (the agent) if I didn't win the contest, but they wanted to still publish my manuscript (I've heard this happens), could I then contact an agent and tell them I have a publisher that wants my manuscript and I'd like to be represented.

Jul 21, 2005 · Delecorte Press is sponsoring its 24th Annual Contest for a First Young Adult Novel. First prize is a publishing contract, $1500 cash and a $7500 advance against royalties. Submit your book-length manuscript of no less than 100 and no more than 224 pages, suitable for ages 12 to 18.

Delacorte has said that it considers all novels sent through this contest and has published from the entries. There is also a contest for MG.
