James Patrick Gorman AO (born July 14, 1958) is an Australian-American businessman and financier. He has been executive chairman of Morgan Stanley since 2012, and was CEO of the firm from 2010 through 2023. Before becoming CEO, he was the co-president and co-head of strategic planning at the firm.
James P. Gorman is Executive Chairman of Morgan Stanley. Prior to assuming his current role in January 2024, Mr. Gorman served as CEO from January 2010 and Chairman from January 2012. He joined the firm in February 2006 and was named Co-President in December 2007.
