Jun 17, 2022 · The men were driving a string of horses from Tunstall’s ranch on the Rio Feliz to Lincoln, as Tunstall wanted to save the animals from confiscation by the posse. In 1927 two of Tunstall’s nephews, guided by rancher George Coe, marked the murder site with a stack of stones and a crude wooden cross.

John Tunstall was buried behind the Tunstall Store to the NE. The burial site is on private property, but there is a marker placed behind the Tunstall store in his honor. On the evening of February 17th, 1878, Tunstall arrived at his modest ranch after a disappointing trip to South Springs Ranch.
