    Leaders of the New School was an American hip hop group from Long Island, New York. The group was composed of Charlie Brown, Dinco D, Cut Monitor Milo, and Busta Rhymes. They first gained recognition when they were chosen as an opening act for hip hop group Public Enemy, with Public Enemy's frontman Chuck D giving Charlie Brown and Busta Rhymes their stage names. After appearing on A Tribe Called Quest's 1991 song "Scenario", Leaders of the New School became associated with the Native Tongues. Their debut album A Future Without a Past... was also released in 1991, with their second and final album, T.I.M.E. (The Inner Mind's Eye), being released two years later.

    As time passed, fans and critics began to focus less on Leaders of the New School as a group, and more on Busta Rhymes as an individual. During an infamous appearance on Yo! MTV Raps, the group was seen arguing, with Charlie Brown walked off the set due to internal group issues. The group ended up disbanding later in 1994.
