The Masch Lake ( German: Maschsee) is an artificial river situated south of the city centre of Hanover, the capital of Lower Saxony, Germany. Spanning an area of 78 hectares (190 acres), it is the largest body of water within Hanover and a popular recreation area as well as venue for numerous water sports .

Maschsee is an artificial lake on the outskirts of Central Hannover, the stretch of water is surrounded by restaurants and bars and pleasant areas to sit and relax. On the day of our visit which was a cold day in December the whole area was alive with people jogging, roller-blading and walking around the lake.
