Mieszkowice [mʲɛʂkɔˈvʲit͡sɛ] ( German: Bärwalde in der Neumark; Kashubian: Berwôłd) is a town in Gryfino County, West Pomeranian Voivodeship in western Poland, about 15 km (9.3 mi) east of the Oder river and the border with Germany. From 1295 Mieszkowice (Berenwalde, later Bärwalde, which means “ Bears Forest”) are listed as a town, which in 1317 had confirmed Magdeburg Law privilege.
