Jun 28, 2007 · The coroner’s report into the suicide of American comedian Richard Jeni has revealed a tragic history of depression. The comic shot himself in the head at his West Hollywood home in March, at the age of 49.
Police and paramedics arrived and transported Jeni to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he died. His family later stated with certainty that the death was a suicide and that Jeni had recently been diagnosed with "severe clinical depression coupled with fits of psychotic paranoia ." [9]
