Plot. Ben Janish ( Ángel del Pozo) arrives in the town of Kiowa Flats and tries to assassinate a man ( Richard Crenna) in his hotel room, while observed by the enigmatic Rimes ( Stephen Boyd ). The bullet grazes the man's head and he falls out of his hotel window, but manages to escape and hide on a freight train.

Noon is a gunfighter who has become amnesiac. Helped by Rimes, an outlaw who has befriended him, he tries to figure out who he is actually. It gradually appears that his wife and kid have been murdered. As time goes by, Noon also recalls a fortune hidden somewhere.
With the help of outlaw Rimes (Stephen Boyd), Noon learns he had a wife and child who were killed, and that the attack on him was made in an attempt to get his hidden treasure.
