  1. Mar 8, 2010 · Randomly surfing; wound up on eBay typing "miata" and stumbled across "Clearwater" brand speakers. Went to their [simple] web site and was favorably impressed by their miata-focus. I've got a '97 with headrest speakers. Anyone tried Clearwaters? Thoughts? What others should I consider for general improvement of audio at speed with top down?

  2. I know that the Clearwater speakers have been out for a long time now and they’re the only plug and play aftermarket speakers designed specifically for the Miata that I’m aware of. They’re $200 bucks on Moss Miata and when there are other cheaper speakers going for half that, I’m not sure if I should shell out for the Clearwater. 1.

  3. A) it’s an open top convertible so sound quality isn’t really possible. B) you have to have amplifier sound to get a decent threshold - so NO - the stock head isn’t going to power higher wattage speakers well. Hands down one of the best car stereo options for the Miata is the Kenwood KAC-M1824 Bluetooth amplifier.

  5. Ah sure, might be worth looking. The stock speakers in my NB (non-Bose) were very inexpensive paper cones and weak. The new speakers are high fidelity quality speakers and most importantly nice tweeters that actually make it so that voice materials can be heard (for me).
