The parish church, St Mary the Virgin, has a late 7th century. The Anglian nave resembling the church at Escomb in many respects, and is one of the 20 oldest surviving churches in the UK.

His work was written in 1906 and the author is able to describe the hamlet of the 1800’s from descriptions based on “living memory” and he contrasts this with the layout of the village one hundred years later in 1906.
