I'm not entirely sure how to just download the changes but zip files have a dictionary of stored files and their CRCs(basically like a hash). So you could download the first x bytes, read the size of the dictionary, then only download the next few bytes to get the dictionary. Then use the dictionary to work out which files have changed.

Reformatting external USB drives
If you plan to download Wikipedia Dump files to one computer and use an external USB flash drive or hard driveto copy them to other computers, then you will run into the 4 GB FAT32 file size limit. To work around this limit, reformat the >4 GB USB drive to a file system that supports larger file sizes. If working exclusively with Windows computers, then reformat the USB drive to NTFS file system.

Wikipedia is an awesome resource. I’m very into history and it’s a good way to read some history in Japanese without having to buy history books in Japanese and ship them to the states. I love it because it isn’t watered down and made to be easy. I don’t recommend it for beginners or low intermediate.
