Aug 22, 2014 · Former first lady Patricia Nixon grew up in Artesia in the 1920s and 1930s, though where her home was in what is now within Cerritos city limits. A statue of Patricia Nixon stands next to the City of Cerritos' Senior Citizen Center, on the site of her early home, and the elementary school I attended in Cerritos was named for her.
While originally in Artesia, California, since the realigning of city boundaries, it is now located about one-half mile (0.80 km) south of the southern border of Artesia, in Lakewood. The opening ceremony of the school was highlighted with a speech by then-Vice President Richard Nixon.
