Orthonairovirus is a genus of viruses in the family Nairoviridae of the order Bunyavirales that include viruses with circular, negative-sense single stranded RNA. [1] It got its name from the Nairobi sheep disease that affects the gastrointestinal tracts of sheep and goats. [1]

Jan 17, 2024 · Only one hallmark gene encoding the RNA-directed RNA polymerase (RdRP) is conserved across the entire kingdom Orthornavirae. Therefore, detection of the RdRP, typically using search methods based...
Aug 15, 2022 · To assist microbial ecologists and virologists with this task, we developed OrViT (OrthornaVirae Tree), a pipeline that integrates and updates published methods and bridges various public software to generate a global phylogenetic tree of the RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) encoded by all orthornaviral genomes.
Orthornavirae. English: This kingdom of viruses typically corresponds to the Baltimore groups III–V. It includes all +ssRNA, -ssRNA, and dsRNA viruses. The group name derives from Greek ὀρθός (orthós) which means “straight” or “right”, “rna” for the type of viruses, and “-virae” the suffix for a virus kingdom.
Aug 31, 2021 · Abstract. In March 2021, following the annual International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV) ratification vote on newly proposed taxa, the phylum Negarnaviricota was amended and emended. The phylum was expanded by four families ( Aliusviridae, Crepuscuviridae, Myriaviridae, and Natareviridae ), three subfamilies ( Alpharhabdovirinae ...
The phylum Negarnaviricota was established in 2019 by the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV) for negative-sense RNA viruses that can be connected evo-lutionarily through the possession of virally encoded RNA-directed RNA polymerases (RdRps).
