Outlaw Billy the Kid (Johnny Mack Brown) runs afoul of two cattlemen, Tunston and McSween, who consider hanging him, but then invite him to join their gang instead. Billy grows fond of Tunston and his fiancée, Claire (Kay Johnson), and is happy to go straight. When Tunston is killed for refusing orders by the territory boss to depart, Billy seeks violent revenge for Claire.
